Day Two of Empire Classic Thrills College Hoops fans as Battle of Big Apple goes to St. John’s University

The Barclays Center got to play host to a set of College Basketball Thrillers, as Temple University, the University of Richmond, Syracuse University and St. John’s University wowed the fans that were in attendance.


Starting off with the University of Richmond who showed a team effort in the 61-49 victory over Temple University.
The Spiders were able to do a tremendous job on the defensive side of the court, as they were able to double-team Jamille Reynolds.


Helping to lead the way on the offensive side for the University of Richmond was Tyler Burton who had 18 points, while Neal Quinn led the team with his eight rebounds.


As for Temple University Khalif Battle was able to get his first start of the season and impressed with an amazing shooting performance. Battle finished the game with 26, as the Owls have lost two straight games.

In the second part of the night the Battle of the Big Apple sizzled the fans in attendance, as a rocking crowd serenaded both the Red Storm and the Orange to a 76-69 overtime victory.


One of the more impressive outings for Syracuse University came from Judah Mintz, who had some acrobatic shootings, who finished the night with 20 points. Jesse Edwards added 18 points and eight rebounds, while Benny Williams had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

As for St. John’s they were able to see a total team performance, including an impressive low post showing from Joel Soriano to help them to a 6-0 record thus far.

Leading the way for the Red Storm was Andre Curbelo who had a career-high 23 points, six assist and four steals. Soranio, meanwhile had a career-high 19 points to go along with 14 rebounds as the Senior now has a NCAA leading fifth double-double. David Jones rounded out all the scoring with 18o points and 13 rebounds to go along with six assists.
