New York Liberty fall to Connecticut, 92-65

The New York Liberty fell to the Connecticut Sun by a final score of 92-65 in WNBA action at the Barclays Center on Wednesday.

New York had a 42.3% (22-52) shooting night from the field against the Sun, while also going 31.8% (7-22) from long distance. The team had two players scoring in double figures as Betnijah Laney had 16 points, while Stefanie Dolson had 13 points.

Helping to lead the way in scoring for Connecticut was DeWanna Gonner, who had 16 points to go along with a game-high four steals

The Liberty had hoped that this 2022 Season would start off on a better note, as in the past four seasons they have averaged just under five wins, and they are doing this with players like Sabrina Ionescu, Natasha Howard and others on the roster.

1495 Sports is proud to bring the following New York Liberty Post Game Press Conference from 5/17/2022. From after the Liberty’s 92-65 loss to the Connecticut Sun in WNBA action. Video features thoughts from Head Coach Sandy Brondello along with Betnijah Laney & Stefanie Dolson:

New York started off on a strong note, but since then they have lost by double digits. It will be interesting to see how the team progresses from here.

One of the main focus points for the team is the fact that they committed a season-high 29 turnovers in the game against Connecticut. That is a stat that is going to hopefully be fixed if the team wants to win more games during the season.

Up next for the Liberty will be a three-game road trip next Tuesday in Minnesota. They will have back-to-back games in Seattle from May 27-29 and will return to the Barclays Center to host Indiana on June 1.
