The St. John’s Women’s Basketball team will go for its third-straight win when the Red Storm welcomes Georgetown on Friday.
Tip-off from Carnesecca Arena is set for 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Matt Ambrose and Austin Rooney on the call. Ashley Liotus will serve as the reporter.
The Johnnies enter the contest at 9-15 this season with a 5-9 BIG EAST record and a 5-5 mark at Carnesecca Arena. On the year, the Red Storm is averaging 74.4 points per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field.
St. John’s took down Butler, 73-61, on Wednesday night to up its second-straight road victory. It marked the first time during league play this season that the Johnnies have won back-to-back games. Before its current streak, the last time the Red Storm took two straight came against Temple and Yale in November.
Leilani Correa led the Johnnies in scoring, as the Manchester, N.J. native posted 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting, including a 3-for7 from three. Rayven Peeples tallied her fourth double-double this year with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Detroit native also tied her career high with five blocks during the victory.
Georgetown comes to Queens at 7-13 on the year with a 2-10 record against BIG EAST opponents. The Hoyas are averaging 59.9 points while shooting 39.0 percent this year. Milan Bolden-Morris enters the weekend averaging 13.1 points per game to lead the Georgetown squad. Kelsey Ransom is second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points but paces the squad with 4.3 assists per game.
St. John’s holds a 39-29 advantage in the all-time series between the teams. During the last meeting between the teams on Jan. 25 in Washington, the Red Storm came away with an 80-52 victory. Four players scored in double figures, led by Camree Clegg with career-highs of 20 points and five 3-pointers. Bolden-Morris led Georgetown with 17 points and eight rebounds during the contest.
After taking on the Hoyas, the Johnnies welcome Creighton to Carnesecca Arena on Friday, Feb. 18. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
