Albany FireWolves Partner with Albany County to Combat COVID-19

The Albany FireWolves, the Capital Region’s Indoor Lacrosse team playing out of the Times Union Center beginning in December, and the FireWolves Foundation today announce that the organization is partnering with Albany County in efforts to administer and distribute COVID-19 vaccinations to Capital Region youth.

Following the County’s press briefing at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 24, the first 1,000 children between the ages of 12-15 years old who get a COVID-19 shot anywhere in Albany County will be eligible to receive a ticket to the FireWolves’ inaugural season home-opener, courtesy of the FireWolves Foundation.  Furthermore, anyone who receives a ticket certificate through this vaccination program will also receive a deeply discounted rate for any accompanying ticket purchase.

“As our first official ‘PACK Gives Back’ initiative for our community through our foundation, we are proud to roll this program out with Albany County,” said George Manias, President of the Albany FireWolves.  “Nothing is more important right now than our community coming together to beat this pandemic and we want to do our part to help.  I would like to thank the FireWolves ownership group, led by our CEO, Oliver Marti, for personally funding the upstart of our Foundation to get it up and running so quickly.  The Capital Region is lucky to have an ownership group who are serious about their commitment to the community and who give back.”

“One of our most important goals right now is to get as many people vaccinated as possible to reach herd immunity and stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy.  “Our 12–15-year-olds are the latest group that is eligible to get a vaccination and we will do anything we can to encourage them to get their shot.  Thank you to the Albany FireWolves and the FireWolves Foundation for offering this generous incentive.  We look forward to sharing the experience of a great sporting event together and welcoming professional lacrosse to the Times Union Center.”
