Baltimore Orioles Heating up in Texas, earn two big wins against Rangers

The Baltimore Orioles (6-8) are starting to heat up as a team, after seeing a doubleheader loss to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, the O’s had two big wins against the Texas Rangers (6-9). The O’s had a 5-2 win on Friday, before the team saw a 6-1 victory on Saturday.

Leading the way in the game on Friday was Cedric Mullins who had an RBI Double, Rio Ruiz and DJ Stewart who both were able to record homers. Mullins continue to have a hot at-bat as he got the team on the board in the game on Saturday with an RBI single in the Top of the Seventh Inning.

Trey Mancini laced an RBI double in the Top of the Eighth, before Ryan Mountcastle tallied an RBI Sac Fly that gave the O’s a 3-1 lead. Steward plopped an RBI single to left field in the Top of the Ninth before a bomb of a shot by Maikel Franco gave the team the 6-1 lead.

From there the Baltimore bullpen stood strong and was able to shut down the Rangers offense for the second night in a row.

Earning the win in the game on Friday was Jorge Lopez, which was his first of the season. Lopez pitched well striking out eight batters in five innings of work. In the game on Saturday Dean Kremer had a solid start in a no decision effort striking out six batters in 4.2 Innings of work.

1495 Sports is proud to bring the following Baltimore Orioles Post Game Press Conference featuring Manager Brandon Hyde along with stars Dean Kremer and Maikel Franco:

Up next for the O’s is the conclusion to their road series with the Texas Rangers, as these two teams will be meeting in a game scheduled for 2:35 p.m. On the mound for Baltimore will be John Means (1-0, 2.16 ERA) who will be taking on Kyle Gibson (2-0, 4.05 ERA). It will be a great pitching match-up as, Mean’s has been starting well for the O’s, as the lefty has a 14/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Gibson, meanwhile, has been stellar so far for the Rangers, as he has allowed only two runs over 13 innings in back-to-back winning decisions.
