Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Takes Tough Shootout Loss to Phantoms, 5-4

It is always an exciting night of action between the Wilkes=Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, this time it was the Phantoms skating to a 5-4 shootout victory at the PPL Center.

These two teams skated to what was a back-and-forth fast paced game, as it was the Phantoms taking an early lead with 4:47 into the game. Felix Robert tallied the first goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, which made the score 1-1.

The Penguins were able to strike again thanks to a tally by Drew O’Conner, but Lehigh Valley fought right back and made things 2-2.

With time winding down it was Pierre-Oliver Joseph that made the score 3-2, as the puck defected off of the crossbar and the back bar right before eventually making its way into the back of the cage.

These two teams continued to impress in the Second Period, as Wilkes-Barre was able to strike first thanks to a wrister by Jan Drozg. Wade Allison was able to help the Phantoms cut into the Penguins lead, with a rifle of a shot.

Lehigh Valley was able to lob a ton of opportunities and netted one thanks to Tyson Forster, who sent the two teams into overtime.

These two teams skated into a shootout frame, as Foerster was the first to cash in and that was the goal that proved to be the game-winner. Playing well in the cage for the Penguins was Alex D’Orio made 26 stops.

Up next for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be a home game against the Binghamton Devils on Saturday, April 10. The action is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
