With the crack of the bat and beautiful weather in Boston, the Orioles were able to defeat the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball Action on Friday.
It was a stellar pitching performance at Fenway Park as John Means and Nathan Eovaldi were able to keep the other team’s offense off the board.
The Orioles were able to get on the board first thanks to a two-run double by Ryan Mountcastle in the Top of the Sixth. Anthony Santander was able to tally an RBI single in the Top of the Eighth.
From there the Baltimore relief core came in and shut down the Red Sox offense, in lifting the team for the first victory of the season.
For Means in his first victory, the lefty was able to toss Seven Innings, sitting down five batters. Tanner Scott and Cesar Valdez combined for Two Innings striking out a combined three batters. For Eovaldi, the Red Sox starter faired well in the loss tossing Five Innings and striking down four batters.
1495 Sports is proud to bring the following Post Game Video Press Conference featuring thoughts from Orioles Manager Brandon Hyde, John Means, Trey Mancini, and Ryan Mountcastle:
The Orioles will continue the three-game set in Boston with a game on Saturday, with First Pitch set for 1:10 p.m. On the hill for Baltimore will be Matt Harvey, who is looking to reclaim the form that made him an All-Star in 2013. The last time Harvey was on the mound was for the Kansas City Royals in 2020. In the last three seasons with four different clubs,
Harvey has been able to earn a 5.85 ERA. The Red Sox will see Tanner Houck on the mound, as the team’s No. 7 prospect will be getting the call. Houck has pitched well for the Red Sox in three starts at the end of the season, having a 3-0 record with a 0.53 ERA.
