Washington Spirit Open Preseason With 6-0 Victory Over Palm Beach Atlantic University Presented by the WAGS Tournament

The Washington Spirit defeated Palm Beach Atlantic University 6-0 today in a 75-minute match at Rinker Athletic Campus in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Forward Ashley Hatch opened the scoring in the 18th minute off of a Sam Staab free kick. Ashley Sanchez got a head on it in the box and flicked it on to Hatch at the back post who tucked it away. Hatch would score again in the 23rd minute and the 39th minute to record the first half hat trick.

Midfielder Bayley Feist got in on the scoring action in the 27th minute after weaving her way through the defense inside the middle of the box. Forward Trinity Rodman scored her first goal as a professional in the 51st minute, just six minutes after coming onto the field. She would add her second in the 71st minute with a curling shot to the back post from the top of the box.

Goalkeepers Aubrey Bledsoe and Devon Kerr combined to shutout out the Sailfish with help from the backline. Bledsoe served as captain of the match with Sullivan not featured due to a facial injury.

The Spirit will return to action at Rinker Athletic Campus on Saturday, March 13 when they take on a select team from IMG Academy.
