Preview: Buffalo Sabres looking to rebound against Rangers

The Buffalo Sabres had a tough 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, and will look to rebound against the New York Rangers in a game to be played on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

This will be the third of eight meetings between these two teams, with the Sabres trying to figure out how to respond to a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in their last meeting.

Buffalo holds a 3-5-2 record in their last 10 games versus the Rangers, with this being the 188th game overall between these two teams.

If the Sabres can figure out how to gain a victory, they would have been able to record consecutive road wins against the Rangers for the first time since April 2, 2016.

Playing well for the Sabres is Eric Staal who has 12 points in 10 games against New York, while Carter Hutton holds a .932 save percentage and a 2.16 goals-against average.

In the team’s game against the Flyers, the Sabres were able to see Jonas Johansson was able to make his first start of the season, recording a career-high 35 saves.

Making his return to the Sabres lineup was Jack Eichel, after recovering from a lower-body injury. Eichel was able to record three shots on eight attempts in 22:18 of action.

The Sabres currently sit in last place in the Eastern Division with 15 points in 18 games, but the team is still in contention for a playoff spot as they are 10 points behind the Flyers.

The positive momentum as well as the push for the playoffs will all start on Tuesday, when the Sabres take on the Rangers. Face-off between these two teams is set for 7:00 p.m. with fans wanting to catch the action can do so by checking out the MSG Plus Network.
