The New York Mets had some aggressive play, but that was not enough as the team dropped their first Spring Training game to the Miami Marlins on Monday, by a final of 2-0.
Some of the offensive stars for New York included Brandon Nimmo who recorded two hits, along with J.D. Davis, Kevin Pillar, Johneshwy Fargas who all tallied hits in the game.
On the mound one of the more impressive showings for the Mets was from reliever Trevor Hildenberger, who was able to fan three batters.
New York had some aggressive base running errors, which ultimately led to them being unable to score. Combine that with a fine pitching performance by the Marlins staff.
On the offensive side for Miami, they were able to get a homer in the bottom of the Fourth Inning from Jesus Aguilar, who blasted the ball to right field to plate the lone two runs of the game.
1495 Sports is proud to bring the following post game press conference, as Manager Luis Rojas along with stars Francisco Lindor and Sean Reid shared these thoughts:
The Mets will be making their Clover Park debut on Tuesday, when they play host to the Houston Astros. Projected to start for New York will be Jordan Yamamoto, who will take on Framber Valdez. First pitch between the Mets and Astros is set for 1:10 p.m.
