Preview: Buffalo Sabres vs New Jersey Devils

The Buffalo Sabres are getting ready to host the New Jersey Devils in National Hockey League action, set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

This will be the fifth of eight meetings between these two teams this season, with the Sabres defeating the Devils 4-1 in New Jersey in their last meeting.

Buffalo holds a 6-4-0 record in their last 10 games vs the Devils, while also hold a 4-5-1 mark at home. This will be the 164th all-time game between these two teams, with the Sabres holding an 81-56-26 record.

In the last six game between these two teams the Sabres hold a 5-1-0 mark, having outscored their opponents by a mark of 28-14. If the Sabres can pick up a victory tonight, Buffalo would have five wins in their last six home games against their opponents.

Some of the players to watch for on the Sabres, who have played well against the Devils is Sam Reinhart, who has eight points, to go along with 19 shots in the last six games. Jack Eichel has 16 points in his 15 career games against the Devils. Rasmus Dahlin has been able to record nine points in eight career games.

Two nights ago, the Sabres were able to pick up a 4-1 victory over the Devils, which helped them to improve to a 3-1-0 record. These teams combined for 79 shots, which tied a highest total for the Sabres this season.

Buffalo has been playing well on the faceoffs, as they are ranked third in the NHL with a team faceoff percentage of 53.8.  One of the top faceoff guys for the team has been Eichel, who ranks eighth in the league in faceoffs taken per game.
