The Buffalo Sabres continue their long road stretch with a game against the New York Islanders, which will be played on Monday, February 22, with the face-off set for 7:00 p.m.
This will be the third of eight meetings between the Sabres and Islanders this season. The last time these two teams met, the Islanders were able to defeat the Sabres 3-0 in Buffalo.
Thus far in the last 10 games against the Islanders, the Sabres hold a 2-6-2 mark, with a 3-5-2 record on the road. This will the be 176th game all-time between these two teams.
Players to watch for when it comes time for who can play well against the Islander will be Taylor Hall, who has recorded 18 points in his 18 games. Jack Eichel follows with 10 points in his 10 meetings, while Victor Olofsson has been able to score in three of his five career games.
Eichel has been playing well overall for the Islanders, as he ranks seventh in the NHL in faceoffs taken per game, and eighth in faceoffs won.
One of the keys for Buffalo earning a win against the Islanders, will be the fact that they have been playing well with the extra man advantage. The Sabres have the third-ranked power play in the league, as the guys have been able to score on 15 of their 46 extra-man opportunities.
The Sabres have been making a ton of moves. Most recent one was the fact that they have reassigned defender Jacob Bryson and Casey Fitzgerald from the Rochester Americans to the team’s taxi squad.
It was announced by the team’s Head Coach Ralph Krueger, that Jake McCabe returned to Buffalo for an MRI after suffering a lower body injury in the game against New Jersey.
The Sabres are sitting at six defensemen, as they get set to take on the Islanders.
