Five Rams players were able to score in double figures as the Fordham University Men’s Basketball team were able to record a 76-68 victory over La Salle in College Basketball action on Saturday.
For the Fordham University Athletics Program, it was a special moment as Interim head coach Michael DePaoli was able to earn his first victory with the team. For DePaoli he was able to arrive at Rose Hill Gym over eleven years ago, acting at the time as the team’s director of basketball operations.
DePaoli was able to assist the team in their travel arrangements, their pregame meals and much more, having some great opportunities to learn from the coaches that came before him.
He was able to use that knowledge combined with some great overall play by the team, which were all parts of a winning result against La Salle.
Fordham had themselves a great offensive performance, that was led by Ty Perry, who recorded a season-high 18 points, going 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Kyle Rose was also able to net a career-high 15 points and Joel Soriano was able to tally his third straight double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
For Soriano, he has been able to record a double-double in seven of the eleven games that were played this year. For Austin, he has been able to have double figure scoring in seven of his last nine games.
Fordham was able to shoot well, outshooting La Salle, 19-14 with most of the points for the Rams coming off the bench.
Up next for Fordham will be an Atlantic 10 game against George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. in a game set for Wednesday, Feb 10 at 7:00 p.m.
