The Washington Capitals will take the road for the first time in two weeks, to take on the New York Rangers. The Capitals had a six game homestand where they were able to skate to a 4-1-1 record. After the game against the Rangers, the Capitals will return to Capital One Arena where they will host the Flyers in a pair of games on Sunday and Tuesday.
Washington is trying to figure out how to rebound from a 5-3 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday. The Capitals were able to hold a 3-0 lead going into the Second Period, but then five unanswered goals by the Bruins helped them to earn the victory.
The Capitals as a whole are starting to get into a bit of a rhythm with their playing schedule, gaining their skating legs a lot sooner. The team as a whole are working on aspects of their game.
It has been 11 months since the Caps’s have been in New York City, the last time they faced the Rangers was a 6-5 overtime decision on March 5 of last year. New York saw goals from Mika Zibanejad was able to record five goals against Washington.
The offense for the Capitals has been gaining their confidence, as the team has been able to record three or more goals in the last 10 games this season. The team’s power play unit is also gaining steam, as it has been able to find some quality opportunities.
New York, meanwhile, holds a 2-0-1 record in their last three games. For the Rangers they were able to find a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden on Monday. One of the bright spots for the Blueshirts has been K’Andre Miller, who has been able to record a goal and four points in the first nine games of his NHL career.
