The Fordham University Men’s Basketball team fell just short to the University of Massachusetts by a final score of 60-54 on Wednesday.
Fordham was able to outshoot UMass, but it was the three-pointers that the Minutemen were able to connect upon that helped them to find a winning result.
UMass was able to connect on five more three-pointers than Fordham, which was one of the keys to the game.
Helping to lead the way offensively for Fordham was Josh Navarro, who had a game-high 17 points, while also adding three assists. Joel Soriano recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
For Soriano, he was able to tally his second double-double, which is the sixth of the season for the sophomore. Soriano has now been able to record a double-double in 11 of his last 16 games dating back to last year.
Fordham was able to outscore the Minutemen in the paint by a tally of 36-22. But it was the three-pointers that were able to lead the UMass to the victory.
Fordham will continue the Atlantic 10 season with a game at historic Rose Hill Gym on Sunday, February 6, as the team will host La Salle. The game will be broadcasted on the NBC Sports Network.
