For the third straight week and fifth time this season, a Fordham Women’s Basketball player has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, and for the second straight week that player is senior guard Kendell Heremaia, picking up her third weekly honor of her career.
One week after tallying her first 20-point game of the season, the New Zealand international matched that in Sunday’s win at Davidson with even more efficient numbers, shooting a season-best 8-of-14, including two threes. She picked up the second double-double of her campaign and ninth of her career with 11 rebounds, three on the offensive glass, while adding team-highs of four assists and three steals across 35 minutes.
Heremaia is averaging 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the season while shooting 39.4% overall and 37.0% from long range. She is third on the team with 35 assists and is second with 11 steals, all over 28.3 minutes per contest.
On Sunday, Heremaia became one of seven Rams to ever reach 800 career points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists, and 100 steals. She is just 102 points away from 1,000 for her career, as well. The senior has reached the top-10 in the program record books for three-pointers made, up to ninth with 158, and is just outside the top-10 for efficiency, shooting 35.0% for her career from distance.
Fordham is back in action with two road contests this weekend, first at Richmond on Friday at 5 p.m.
