Buffalo Sabres fall to Flyers 3-0

It was a physical game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers, in the end it was Philadelphia that was able to earn a 3-0 victory in NHL action on Tuesday night.

Recording the goals for the Flyers was Jakub Voracek, Travis Konecny and Kevin Hays who all skated great at the Wells Fargo Center. Keeping buffalo in the game between the pipes was Carter Hutton, making 19 saves in two periods of action. Hutton was later replaced by Jonas Johansson.

During the game Hutton was able to take an elbow to the head from one of the Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov early in the second period.

One of the things that really disappointed the Sabres was the fact that they were able to be able to find the back of the cage, even though the team were able to generate 40 shots and 11 quality attempts at 5-on-5. The Sabres especially had one of their best quality shots during a 5-on-3 power play during the first period, which saw Victor Olofsson who had a wide-open net.

Philadelphia and Buffalo have met plenty of times in the past, but there seemed to have been a bit of an edge between the two teams on Tuesday. They have a total of eight meetings this season, so it will be interesting to see if a rivalry will form during the course of the NHL season.

Buffalo is now enjoying some time to game plan and will travel to Washington D.C. to take on the Capitals in a game that is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
