The Fordham University Women’s Basketball Team (4-2, 1-1 Atlantic 10) was able to hold George Mason (3-5, 0-1 Atlantic 10) to 32 points on Friday afternoon, to pick up a 62-32 victory at Rose Hill Gym.

This was the second-fewest points ever allowed in program history since 1977, as the Rams were able to pick up their first Atlantic 10 victory of the New Year, while improving to a 4-2 overall record.

The Rams were able to play some tremendous defense holding George Mason to just three points over the opening 13 minutes. Fordham was able to see some tremendous scoring from Anna DeWolfe and Kendell Heremaia who combined for 33 points.

Fordham was able to lead from the start of the game to the finish as they were paced early by a steal by DeWolfe who notched a steal on the game’s opening possession that eventually led to a Megan Jonassen layup. George Mason was able to get within one, 4-3, with a little less than five minutes in the game on a three-point play from Marika Korpinen. DeWolfe and Heremaia were able to combine to help the Rams regain the lead, which was followed by a Downey jumper that capped an 11-0 run that capped the opening frame.

DeWolfe continued her fine shooting performance with a turnaround jumper in the lane. Fordham never dropped their lead below 20 following some tremendous shooting.

Overall the Rams were able to shoot 39.7% as a group, which included 32.3 % from beyond the arc to go along with 6-of-9 from the charity stripe. Mason was able to convert 12-of-57 attempts including 4-of-15 from behind the arc and 4-for-7 from the line. Fordham was able to dominate on the glass 45-28, which is a new season high that included 14 offensive rebounds.

Leading the way overall in the scoring department was DeWolfe, who had a game-high 18 points on 8-of-20 shooting to go with four rebounds, three assists and two steals over 37 minutes. Heremaia was able to connect with 5-of-13 shots, four from three-point range and two steals over 37 minutes of play.

Fordham will have a quick turnaround as they will host George Washington this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The game will air on the CBS Sports Network.
