New York City FC and Toronto FC have always had some epic encounters, with the club from Canada always having the edge in each one. The result on Wednesday was no different as Toronto was able to earn a 1-0 victory over the Boys in Blue.
Continuing to play an aggressive brand of soccer, New York was able to record 10 shots (five that were more of the goal scoring opportunity) in the First Half of play. Toronto, meanwhile could not figure out the NYCFC defense recording three shots (one on target).
Some of the offensive highlights in the First came from Taty Castellano, Alex Callens and Alex Ring to only name a few. The Second Half of play was just as exciting as New York City FC continued its brilliant chances, great opportunities by Gary Mackay-Steven was stuffed by Toronto FC keeper Alex Bono.
Even though New York had some tremendous defense, it was a penalty kick by Toronto FC Alejandro Pozuelo that won the match, and putting an end to New York City FC’s six-match unbeaten streak.
New York City FC who currently ranks Sixth Place in the Major League Soccer standings will have a match at Red Bull Arena against FC Cincinnati at 7:00PM.
