New York Liberty Look to Continued Season Against Atlanta Dream

The New York Liberty (2-14) look to continue to show why they are going to be a tough team during this 2020 WNBA Season with a game against the Atlanta Dream (4-13) on Thursday.

Here are some interesting notes to get fans ready for the game:

The Liberty (2-14) fell to the Connecticut Sun, 70-65, after overcoming an 11-point deficit on Tuesday night.

Kia Nurse contributed a team-high 18 points on 40.0% (2-5) shooting beyond the arc. She scored 12 of her points in the first half, leading both teams. Nurse also grabbed her 200th career rebound on Tuesday.

Jazmine Jones totaled 15 points on 37.5% from the field off the bench, 7 of which came from the charity stripe where she shot 70%. Jones also connected on 50% (2-4) from deep.

Kylee Shook scored a career-high 9 points for the fourth time this season, shooting a perfect 4-4 from the field, and grabbed 4 rebounds in 17:26 minutes. Shook also connected on her sole three-point attempt.

Amanda Zahui B recorded her 100th career assist, finishing with 3 on the night. She entered the game with 99 career assists. Zahui B also finished with a team-high 10 rebounds. Tuesday marked Zahui B’s fourth consecutive contest with 10+ boards. She is one game shy of tying Tina Charles’ New York Liberty record for consecutive 10+ rebounding performances.

The Atlanta Dream (4-13) are coming off a high-scoring win over the Indiana Fever, 102-90, on September 1. Atlanta’s backcourt tandem of Courtney Williams and Chennedy Carter led the offense with 22 points apiece. The Dream shot 50.0% (10-20) from beyond the arc on the night.

In the team’s first meeting of the season on July 31, Atlanta edged New York, 84-78.

After Sabrina Ionescu exited the game in the second quarter with an ankle sprain, fellow rookie guard Jazmine Jones stepped up for a 20-point breakout performance, leading all Liberty scorers.

Layshia Clarendon and Jocelyn Willoughby added 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Dream guard Betnijah Laney led all scorers with a game-high 30 points.

The Liberty won the 2019 series against the Dream, winning two of three contests. Since 2018, Atlanta holds a 4-3 record against New York. In all-time series history against the Dream, the Liberty have an overall record of 29-17 (.630) against Atlanta.

Kia Nurse – Currently sits at 950 total career points, 200 rebounds and 250 free throws made.
Layshia Clarendon – Averaging a career-high 12.2 points per game.
