VIDEO: New York Mets Manager Luis Rojas along with stars Michael Wacha and Michael Conforto share these thoughts after the team’s 9-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in Major League Baseball action on 9/2
Michael Conforto has always been one of those special players that you just got to watch whenever he plays. Since his days with the Brooklyn Cyclones to his time at Citi Field, Conforto always brings passion and pride to every single at-bat and play.
That energy was rewarded in the final game between the New York Mets (16-21) who were able to defeat the Baltimore Orioles (16-20) by a score of 9-4. Conforto, who was one of the many bats that Mets fans were excited to see in this 2020 season, was able to have four hits against the Orioles.
Always a student of the game, Conforto has been watching video of other great hitters like Freddy Freeman in order to improve his game. In his Post Game Video Press Conference with the New York Media, he stated that he wanted to be a hitter that sprayed the ball to right field, and stated that as an example of the type of hitter he would like to be going forward.
It was a tremendous hitting game for both the Mets and the Orioles, as the bats for New York were just able to find that extra hit to lead them to victory.
Some of leaders for Baltimore on the offensive side included Ryan Mountcastle, Jose Iglesias, and Pat Valaika.
As for the Mets they were able to get some additional offensive support from Pete Alonso, Jake Marisnick and Jeff McNeil,
The Mets will have one game against the New York Yankees on Thursday, before starting a four-game series against their National League Rivals the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday. Taking the mound against the Yankees will be Robert Gsellman (0-0, 5.19 ERA) who will take on J.A. Happ (1-1, 4.05 ERA). The start of the game between the Mets and the Yankees will air on the SNY Network and is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
Baltimore, meanwhile, will have a day off before hosting the Yankees for a four-game series starting on Friday. The series will start with a doubleheader that is set to start at 5:05 p.m.
