New York City FC Earn 2-0 Victory over New England

VIDEO: New York City FC Defender Joe Scally and New England Revolution Midfielder Diego Fagundez share these thoughts after the match played between the two teams on 9/2. New York City FC was able to earn a 2-0 victory in MLS action. For Scally he was able to make his MLS Debut for NYCFC and for Fagundez he was able to make his 250th appearance for the Revolution.

It is three wins in a row for New York City FC as the boys in blue earned a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer action on Wednesday. New York City FC continues to play an aggressive style of soccer, which has led them to tremendous success since having left the bubble in the MLS is Back Tournament.

New York City FC has been causing a ton of pressure on the offensive side of the ball, creating plenty of beautiful chances and opportunities and that has been able to lead to the winning results that they have been looking for.

Maxime Chanot got the ball rolling for the NYCFC offense, attempting to cash in on a set piece on 14′, but that opportunity was well saved by the Revolution keeper.  New York City FC was able to create an own goal opportunity thanks to some brilliant offensive pressure from Anton Tinnerholm and Héber at the 59′ mark.

Héber was rewarded for his brilliant play with his first goal of the 2020 Season at the 72′ marker, cashing in on a brilliant header that was set-up by a Ronald Matarrita corner. Making several brilliant saves in the cage for New York was Sean Johnson, including one of the bigger stops of the night at the 70′ mark.

With the victory New York City FC currently sits in Sixth Place in the tough Eastern Conference standings. The Boys in Blue look to continue their climb up the rankings and keep this positive play they have alive with a road match against D.C. United at Audi Field on Sunday night at 7:00 p.m.
