Mets Earn Emotional 5-4 Victory over Marlins

VIDEO: New York Mets Manager Luis Rojas along with stars Michael Conforto and Dominic Smith share these thoughts after the team’s 5-4 victory over the Miami Marlins on 8/26

In spite of a ton of issues with their pitching the New York Mets (13-16) were able to earn an emotional 5-4 victory over the Miami Marlins (14-12) in Major League Baseball action on Wednesday night.

With pitcher Jacob deGrom going seven innings where he was able to strike out 14 batters and giving up two hits, in this game the Mets ran into bullpen issues with having moved Seth Lugo to the starting rotation.

It was a nailbiter of a game as the guys had a three-run lead going into the Eighth that all but led to a losing result, thankfully the bats were able to come through in the clutch as Wilson Ramos got a RBI hit in the bottom of the fame that was able to lead the team to the victory.

New York was also able to see some offensive production from Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo, who both recorded a homer. Also contributing to the offense was Robinson Cano who laced a double in the bottom of the First Inning.

One of the issues the team is going to have to solve quickly in this 60 game sprint of a season is the bullpen. Even though the team came into the year with a strong pen, several moves like making Lugo a starter, have now left the Mets wondering what to do with their bullpen.

It is one of the issues that have been a tough one for his franchise to figure out, and it will be interesting to see what Manager Luis Rojas does with the arms that he has available.

The team was able to earn the emotional victory on Wednesday though in spite of the pen issues and look to continue the positive momentum they had from that game into the final game against the Marlins to be played on Thursday (tonight).

Rojas will have a big decision to make as to who his starter will be as there has not been one announced as of yet. Major League Baseball as a whole has a bigger battle to wager as there were teams that decided not to play yesterday due to the sports wide protest that are happening in the continued battle of racial inequality in the world.

The protest began with the NBA Playoff game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic, as the NBA players are currently taking a very strong stance against the police shootings of Jacob Blake on Sunday.

Major League Baseball has been called upon, as well as the rest of the leagues to take a stand with the National Basketball Association-as all of the athletes are trying to use their platform to better educate everyone on matters like racial inequality.

If the game is played the Marlins will have righty Sixto Sánchez on the mound, in his MLB debut Sánchez was able to strike out four batters in five innings in a win against the Washington Nationals.

Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to see what decisions will be made prior to the final game between the Mets and Marlins tonight, which is set to start at 7:10 p.m.
