Baltimore Orioles Take tough 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay Rays

Starter Asher Wojciechowski was brilliant for the Baltimore Orioles (14-16), it was just a tough outing by the pen that led to the tough 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays (21-11) in Major League Baseball action on Wednesday night.

Wojciechowski tossed four innings striking out three batters and giving up four hits, with the pen coming in and just unable to keep the Rays bats off of the scoreboard. There was a ton of fight from Baltimore prior to the end result, as the team was able to make it a tie ballgame in the bottom of the Seventh Inning. That fight was in large part thanks to a tremendous at-bat from Anthony Santander who ripped an RBI single in that frame.

Tampa Bay was able to respond though in the Eighth, when Michael Perez ripped a monster homer to center field to send the Rays home a winner.

With the trade deadline incoming for all of the Major League Baseball teams, it’ll be interesting to see what moves the Orioles will make as many consider them to be a rebuilding team this season.

Baltimore is hoping to avoid being swept by the Rays in the final game on Thursday (tonight), as they send John Means to the hill to take on Ryan Yarbrough. Means is expected to throw about 65 pitches in the game and is looking to get back to the form that made him an All-Star during the 2019 season. Yarbrough, meanwhile, is looking for his first win of the season as he makes his seventh start-the first against the Orioles.

The game between the Orioles and the Rays is set for 6:40 p.m. with the action airing on the MASN Network.
