Rough Day for Orioles in 4-2 loss to Rays

The Baltimore Orioles (14-15)  were not able to back up a solid start from Tommy Milone and wound up taking a tough 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays (20-11) in Major League Baseball action on Tuesday night.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction the Orioles will go from here as the organization as a whole will take a close look at some of their guys and see what moves they will make. Will they move certain pieces to contenting teams to help the future of the franchise, and what will the moves be?

One such person who maybe moved is in fact Milone, who tossed 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs against a very good Tampa Bay team.  In the five starts for the Orioles, Milone holds a 3.99 ERA, striking out 21 batters and walking four in 29 1/3 innings pitched.

Not only did the Baltimore take a tough loss, but they also got some bad news as the season is over for pitcher Wade LeBlanc, who suffered an elbow injury on Sunday. The franchise placed him on the 60-day injured list.

Because of the injury the team had an opening and made the fall for left-handed prospect Keegan Akin from their alternate training site in Bowie, Md., in a corresponding move.  Manager Braydon Hyde also has pitchers Thomas Eshelman and righty Jorge López as potential options to take the place of LeBlanc as well.

There is still a ton of hope surrounding the team with Renanto Nunez continuing his fine hitting with a homer in the game against the Rays. In addition Ryan Mountcastle, who was just called up to the Big Leagues continues to show why he is going to be a fun player to watch for also got a hit.

There are a ton of questions for the Orioles to answer, but for now the first big question is how will they rebound against the Rays.

The Orioles will continue their series against the Rays with a game scheduled tomorrow (Wednesday). Baltimore will send Asher Wojciechowski to the mound for the start to take on a pitcher to be named for Tampa Bay. Wojciechowski has been struggling as of late on the hill holding a 1-3 record, with a 4.84 ERA in five starts overall.
