One of the things about a Major League Baseball Season is that there are going to be ups and downs for any club, there is no avoiding it. Currently the Baltimore Orioles (12-13) are in a bit of a slump having lost their last five games.
The latest tough loss for the Birds was a 7-1 decision to the Boston Red Sox (8-18) in Thursday night baseball action. Continuing to impress in his play for Baltimore is outfielder Anthony Santander, who shows why he is going to be a player to watch for in this 2020 Major League Baseball Season and beyond.
Santander doing his best Spider-Man impression climbing the outfield wall in the Top of the First Inning and completely robbing Mitch Moreland of what could have been a extra bases hit. The outfielder also continued his hitting streak, as with his single in the First Inning Santander extended his MLB-high 15-game hitting streak. Baltimore also was able to see a long ball from Pat Valaika.
There were a couple of key things that the Orioles are hoping to improve upon to get them back into their winning ways.
One was starting pitch as starter Asher Wojciechowski struggled going 3 2/3 innings and allowing three runs. The second was overall play of the team as there were several plays that could have been outs but instead turned into production for Boston.
In MLB there is really not much room for error and teams like the Red Sox will know how to cash in and turn those errors into positive offense for themselves.
In most Major League Baseball seasons, teams are able to figure out how to get out of their slumps and can get back into a bit of a groove. Can the Orioles do this against the Red Sox is the big question? They have three more games against this tough American League Foe to figure it out.
This series between Baltimore and Boston continues today (Friday) as John Means (0-1. 10.57 ERA) takes the mound to take on Colten Brewer (0-1, 4.50 ERA). The game is set to start at 7:35 p.m. with the action set to air on the MASN Network.
