VIDEO: New York Mets Infielder Robinson Cano shares these thoughts with the media after the game on 8/5
Taking the mound in Washington D.C. New York Mets (5-8) starter Rick Porcello mixed his pitches really well, and hurled 7 strong innings to help lead the team to a 3-1 victory over the reigning World Series Champions the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.
It was a milestone moment for Porcello who earned his 150th victory for what was a wonderful milestone moment for the starter. Porcello was able to keep the Nationals batters off balance and getting them to hit the ground ball outs that were needed to keep the offense in the game tonight.
Leading the way on the offensive side of the ball for New York was Dominic Smith who laced a double into center field in the Top of the Seventh Inning. One of the biggest stories for the Mets was their defensive play as Andrés Giménez, J.D. Davis, Luis Guillorme and Michael Conforto all made some spectacular stops during the course of the game.
New York will now get a day off before returning to Citi Field for a three-game series against the Miami Marlins starting on Friday, with the first game scheduled for 7: 10 p.m.
