In what was a thriller at Yankee Stadium, Maxime Chanot and Alexander Callens both scored their first goals to help NYCFC earn a 2-1 comeback victory over the Philadelphia Union on 6/3.
Things started out on a frustrating note for New York City FC, as they had plenty of opportunities, but were unable to cash in. Not helping the cause was the first goal by the Philadelphia Union.
The boys in blue were finally able to cash in on two amazing set-piece plays, and earn a well deserved victory at home.
Chanot was the first to score, tying the game at the ’80 mark, as the Luxembourgian connected on a front post header. Callens got the game-winner at the ’85 mark, putting in a rebounded shot that sent the NYCFC faitful home happy.

- NYCFC are now 7-5-3 for the 2017 season through 15 games
- Miguel Camargo made his second start for the club since joining on loan from Chorillo
- Ronald Matarrita returned to the field for the first time since NYCFC’s 2-0 win over Philadelphia in April
- Maxime Chanot scored his first goal for the club
- Alexander Callens scored his first goal for the club
- NYCFC have won four of their last five games against Philadelphia Union
NYCFC will take a weekend off next week for the international break before returning to action on June 14 for the US Open Cup fourth round clash at Red Bull Arena. We return to Yankee Stadium on Saturday June 17 when Seattle Sounders are our opponents on NYCFC Pride Day.
