It was an amazing night of College Basketball action at the Barlcays Center, as the Barclays Center Classic featured some of the nation’s top teams in the University of Maryland, University of Richmond, Kansas State University and Boston College.
The First Game between Kansas State University and Boston College was a defensive thriller as K-State earned a 72-54 victory to improve to a 5-0 record in play. Leading the way offensivley for the Wildcats was Xavier Sneed with 16 points, while Barry Brown and Dean Wade both had 11 points each.
K-State held Boston College to just 33.3 percent shooting (17-of-51), including 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from 3-point range, with 14 of their 54 points coming from the free throw line. It marked the 51st time under Weber that the team has held an opponent to less than 60 points, including the third time this season. The 13 steals were the most since also posting 13 against Maryland-Eastern Shore on Nov. 13, 2015.
In the Second Game of the Night the University of Maryland was able to complete an Overtime Comeback Thriller in a 88-82 victory over the University of Richmond. Leading the way on the offense for the Terps was Melo Trimble who had 31 points.
Anthony Cowan added 18 for Maryland (6-0), Justin Jackson contributed with 16 points and seven rebounds and Kevin Huerter had 12 points and 10 boards.
Boston College and the University of Richmond will battle each other in the Consolation Game happening at 7:00 p.m. Maryland will take on Kansas State on Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. in the Barclays Classic Championship Contest.
