Defense is Key in South Carolina 64-50 Victory over 18/16 Syracuse

Defense was a huge Key in the South Carolina 64-50 victory over 18/16 Syracuse in NCAA Division 1 Action in the 2016 Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Classic held at the Barclays Center.

The Gamecocks (6-0) had three players score 15 points or more, and a tremendous defensive effort to hold the Orange to 36 points under their season scoring average.

Leading the way on offense for South Carolina was Maik Kostar and Sindarius Thornwell, who both had 16 point each. PJ Dozier recorded his first career double-double in the game, pulling down 10 rebounds to go with 15 points.

As for Syracuse, leading the way for the Orange on offense was Tyler Lydon who had 18 points.  Andrew White III and Frank Howard added 10 points apiece.

Up Next for South Carolina the team will return home to host a pair of non-conference matchups next week when Vermont (Dec. 1) and FIU (Dec. 4) travel to Colonial Life Arena. As for Syracuse they will participage in The ACC/Big 10 Challenge, as they travel to Madison, Wisc. to take on the Badgers on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
