New York City FC earned a 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer action at Yankee Stadium on 8/20/16.

The boys in blue (11-7-8) extended their lead atop the Eastern Conference to four points over Toronto FC in their fourth consecutive match without a loss, while LA Galaxy (9-4-11) had their nine-game unbeaten streak snapped.

Scoring the lone goal for NYCFC was Captian David Villa cashing in on a rebounded opportunity by Ronald Matarrita in the Sixth Minute of play in the First Half.

That was all New York City FC needed as a combination of splended defense along with great play by Keeper Josh Saunders was able to keep the game scoreless. Both teams had some amazing chances, in what was a thriller played in front of 35,509 supporters.

NYCFC remains atop the Eastern Conference with 41 points, while also holding a 4-1-1 in their last six games at Yankee Stadium.
