The Force is Strong with the Cyclones in victory over IronBirds

The Force was Strong with the Brooklyn Cyclones (16-19) on Star Wars night at MCU Park in the 7-2 victory over the Aberdeen IronBirds (15-20) in Minor League Baseball action.

Brooklyn had an outsanding night with the bats, as the team recorded 12 hits including three home runs in the victory.

Leading the way for the offense was the returning Desmond Lindsay, who had a solo shot in the fourth inning. Lindsay who made his 2016 debut with the Cyclones returning from a serious hamstring injury.

Also having a good day at the plate was Pete Alonso who went 2-for-2 with an opposite field homer,while reaching base in all four plate appearances. Darryl Knight hit a three-run shot in the bottom of the Eight Inning.

The Cyclones also had some tremendous performances on the mound, including that of starter Justin Dunn, who made his debut with the team. Dunn was the  Mets 1st Round Selection in the 2016 MLB Draft, recorded 3.0 Innings while striking out five batters.

With the victory, the Cyclones won their first home series in nearly a month, setting the stage for a showdown with the cross-bridge rival Staten Island Yankees starting on Sunday afternoon.

On the mound for Brooklyn will be LHP Thomas Szapucki, who will be making his Cyclones debut. First pitch between the Cyclones and Yankees is set for 4:00 p.m.
