St. John’s MBB To Face South Carolina in Hall of Fame Shootout

St John's Basketball

St. John’s has added South Carolina to its men’s basketball non-conference slate for 2015-16 campaign. The contest was officially announced Monday in conjunction with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The Red Storm and Gamecocks will meet on Dec. 22 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. as part of a doubleheader for the Hall of Fame Shootout.

First year Head Coach Chris Mullin, a two-time Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductee, will lead the Red Storm into its fifth all-time meeting with South Carolina. St. John’s has won all four of its prior contests with the Gamecocks. The programs last squared off on Nov. 29, 2012 at Carnesecca Arena in the SEC/BIG EAST Challenge.

“We look forward to competing in the 2015 Hall of Fame Shootout at Mohegan Sun Arena,” said Mullin. “It is an honor for our program to be affiliated with the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame as part of a first-class event. This will present a challenge for our team prior to the conference season.”

“Mohegan Sun Arena has proven to be a tremendous venue for a number of Hall of Fame events,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “We look forward to two great contests in the Hall of Fame Shootout and know the many fans who make the trip will undoubtedly enjoy their experience.”

The second half of the Hall of Fame Shootout features Marist and Brown. Tickets for the event go on sale Sept. 11 at the Mohegan Sun Box Office or online via Ticketmaster. Game times and television details will be released at a later date.
