Major League Lacrosse has announced that New York Lizards’ goalie Drew Adams is the recipient of the 2015 Maverik Goalie of the Year Award. Adams anchored a Lizards defense that allowed a league-best 160 goals in 14 regular season games.

“I think this is a testament to the team,” said Adams of winning the award. “My play was just a result of some of the great guys in front of me. Our defense did a great job this year and our offense was super productive. Everyone made my job a lot easier by doing theirs.”

Adams’ 2015 season may have been the best out of his seven year career, posting career best numbers in games won, total saves, and save percentage. En route to leading the Lizards to the top overall seed at 10-4, Adams recorded 210 total saves, stopping 56 percent of the shots he faced. Adams’ total minutes played in net and his goals against average are also amongst the highest in his career.

“Drew has been on top of his game all year,” said Lizards Head Coach, Joe Spallina. “He has had such an ability to make a big stop in a clutch moment and it has helped spearhead so many victories. This award is attributed to his hard work.”

In addition to the 2015 Goalie of the Year, Adams has a rich history of lacrosse accolades. In 2011 and 2012, he was the MLL Goalie of the Year and an All-Star, while being the representative of the MLL All Pro team in 2010-12. In addition, Adams was able to represent the United States at the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championships, guiding the team to a silver medal.

A graduate of Penn State University, Adams was a four-year starter and a three time All-American. He was the ECAC Goalie of the Year three times, and in his rookie season he was awarded the 2006 ECAC Rookie of the Year.

Adams will take the field one last time with the 2015 Lizards this Saturday, August 8th as the team takes on the Rochester Rattlers in the MLL Championship Game. The game will be played at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, GA, with the opening faceoff at 7 p.m. Tickets to the game can be bought at MajorLeagueLacrosse.com/Championship-Game.
