Barclays Center Announces Islanders 2015-16 Schedule

The New York Islanders have released their schedule for the 2015-16 regular season, the organization’s first in its new home, Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The club opens the 2015-16 season with the first ever regular-season National Hockey League game in Brooklyn on Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. against the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

The Islanders will play four of their first five games and 10 of their first 15 in Brooklyn, giving fans an early look at the excitement of Islanders hockey in the borough. The division rivalries are set to heat up as the Islanders will play five games against the Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets. The Islanders will play four games against each of their remaining Metro Division opponents, the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.

The highly-anticipated first Islanders-Rangers game in Brooklyn will take place on December 2; the Islanders also host their crosstown rivals on January 14.  After their heated seven-game playoff series against the Capitals, the two teams will faceoff in Brooklyn on January 7 and February 18. Other featured home games against divisional rivals include a pair of matchups against the Devils (November 3, December 13), the Penguins (March 8 and April 2), and three games against the Flyers (November 25, January 23, March 21).

The Islanders will close their regular season at home on Saturday, April 9 against the Buffalo Sabres.
