St. John’s seniors D’Angelo Harrison and Sir’Dominic Pointer have both earned United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District II honors, as announced by the organization. The honor for Harrison marks the second-straight season in which the guard has landed on the USBWA All-District II squad.
Harrison earned first team All-BIG EAST honors for the second-straight season after finishing second in the league with 17.8 points per game. The senior became the fifth St. John’s player to earn multiple first team All-BIG EAST honors and the first player since Marcus Hatten (2002-03) to earn back-to-back first team accolades.
Harrison scored double-figures in 28-of-31 games, including 14 20-point performances, and posted three double-doubles. He ranks sixth in the league in 3s made per game (2.1), eighth in free throw shooting (80.4 percent) and 14th with 5.5 rebounds.
The sixth-leading active Division I scorer with 2,153 points and the third St. John’s player to score 2,000 points, Harrison is also one of five players in the country to record 500 rebounds, 200 3s, 200 assists and 100 steals in his career.

won the Most Improved Player Award and earned second team All-BIG EAST honors. Pointer joins Mark Jackson (1987) as just the second St. John’s player to earn BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors and Dwight Hardy (2011) as the second player to earn Most Improved Player accolades.
The versatile senior ranks 10th in the league with a career-high 13.7 points and ranked fourth with a career-best 7.6 rebounds, while finishing second in the conference with a career-high eight double-doubles. Pointer recorded 21 double-figure games, including six 20-point performances.
The swingman ranks third in conference with 2.5 blocks, third with 2.0 steals, sixth in field goal percentage (52.6) and 13th with 3.1 assists. The 50th player in St. John’s history to reach the 1,000-point mark, Pointer is also the lone St. John’s player to rank in the program’s top five in both blocks (3rd, 170) and steals (5th, 198).
St. John’s (21-10, 10-8) finished the regular-season red-hot winning seven of the last nine games for the second straight year. After matching the program’s highest win total in the regular-season since 1998-99, the Red Storm will enter 2015 BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 5 seed and meets No. 4 Providence (21-10, 11-7) in the quarterfinals Thursday at 2:30 p.m. FOX Sports 1 will carry the national telecast from Madison Square Garden.
