BIG EAST Tournament next stop for St John’s MBB

The St John’s Men’s Basketball team (21-10, 10-8 BIG EAST) are heading to the BIG EAST Tournament in a familiar setting of Madison Square Garden. Currently the team is in the No. 5 in the Tournament and is set to take on No. 4 Providence (21-10, 11-7).

It is the second-straight year these two will meet in the Quarterfinals, as St John’s enters the tournament winning seven of its last nine contests to earn a top-5 seed at the BIG EAST Tournament for the third time in four full seasons under Head Coach Steve Lavin.

The Red Storm finished with a 7-3 this season and holds a 417-280 (.598) all-time record at Madison Square Garden. Providence holds a 4-2 mark all-time versus St John’s in the BIG EAST Tournament, but the Red Storm holds a 60-45 edge in the series versus the Friars.

The BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals will start at Noon with No. 1 Villanova taking on either No.9 Marquette or No. 8 Seton Hall. The St. John’s and Providence game is set to tip-off at 2:30 p.m.
