For the third-straight week and the sixth time overall this season, Aliyyah Handford has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

The junior guard from Newark, N.J., had another spectacular week for the Red Storm, putting up back-to-back 25 point efforts against DePaul and Marquette.  Handford also averaged 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest this week, shooting 52.5 percent from the floor overall.

In a tough overtime loss to DePaul on Friday afternoon, Handford converted on 10 of her 20 tries from the floor in 45 minutes of action, finishing the contest with 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

On Sunday against the Golden Eagles, Handford sank 11 of her 20 attempts from the field en route to tallying 25 points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

With her performances this week, Handford has now scored 20 or more points in each of her last five games and eight of her last nine.

The BIG EAST’s leading scorer this season at 20.3 points per game, Handford ranks in the top 30 nationally in that category.

In addition to six appearances on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this season, Handford was also named the conference’s Player of the Week on Dec. 22.
