Fordham Football Grinds out FCS Victory over Sacred Heart

The Fordham University Football team (11-2) fought for every inch and were able to earn a 44-22 victory over  Sacred Heart University (9-3) in the First Round of the NCAA FCS Tournament.

In a game that saw a bit of everything from blocked Field Goals to interceptions and fumbles it was the team effort from the Rams that won the day.

For Fordham Quarterback Michael Nebrich (Burke, Va.) completed 29 passes for a total of 423 yards, while also showing great poise against a tough Pioneers defense.

It had seemed as if whenever Nebrich threw an interception he responded later on with a perfect spiral, overall in the game the Senior was able to find several great connections including that of Wide Receiver Brian Wetzel (Dallas, Tex.) who recorded 166 yards in the game.

Tebucky Jones, Jr. (Farmington, Conn.) also had a great day on offense totaling 139 yards including a 97-yard connection with 11:45 left in the Third Quarter.

Senior Kicker Michael Marando (Brooklyn, N.Y.) became the sole holder of the Patriot League Football Field Goal record with 22.

The Fordham defense had a tremendous day including the play of Ian Williams (West Palm Beach, Fla.) who had two interceptions.
