The Brooklyn Cyclones (12-9) currently sit in second place in the New York-Penn League, it was a tough three-game stretch for the team as they were only able to pick up a victory on July 6, snapping a five-game losing streak.
In the most recent series against Aberdeen the Cyclones had a tough 3-2 Game 1 loss on Friday, before suffering an 18-2 loss on Saturday. It was on Sunday that Brooklyn’s offense regained their stride to gain the 7-0 victory on Sunday.
Leading the way in this most recent series was Jhoan Ureña who has had four hits and two RBIs, along with Jeff Diehl who has six hits and three RBIs. Ureña is sixth in the New York-Penn League in average (.338). Pitcher Marcos Molina is currently in second place among NYPL in ERA (0.47), while Octavio Acosta is fifth in the league in ERA (1.08).
The Cyclones continue their home stand at MCU Park with four games over the course of 24 hours, starting on Monday night against the Hudson Valley Renegades.
Slated to take the mound for Game One on July 7 will be Acosta who will be taking on Hudson Valley Righty Hunter Wood (0-0, 0.92 ERA).
