Frustrations continue for Liberty in Loss to Sun

The New York Liberty (3-7) continue a frustrating stretch of basketball in a 83-75 loss to the Connecticut Sun (5-6) in WNBA Action at Madison Square Garden.

Connecticut who was hungry throughout the whole night, swarmed the Liberty playing an aggressive defensive side of the ball, while also attacking with any opportunity they had given to them.

As for New York, the ladies did fight but the effort and comeback came too late, as the Sun built too great of a lead for the ladies to get back into this one.

Playing aggressively throughout the night was Tina Charles who was four assists away from a triple-double, recording 25 points, 10 boards and six helpers. Prior to the game Charles was honored with the WNBA Cares Community Assists Award, started to sizzle in the second quarter getting four of the five field goals in the frame.

The third quarter was met with bad news for Liberty fans as Forward Plenette Pierson suffered an injury, coming in to inject some life and energy to the team was Avery Warley-Talbert, who recorded six points in the quarter. It was around this time the ladies started to find their groove, get into the good ball movement that fans have seen during the course of the year and regain the spark that is needed to get them victories.

Connecticut was not going to be denied victory on this night, as four players finished in double-figured scoring to snap a 12-game road losing streak for the Sun.

If you are one who likes to look at the bright side of things and a fan of the New York Liberty, the good news is that the team was able to regain the energy needed and played a very aggressive brand of basketball seen in the Fourth Quarter.

That is something that the ladies can take with them as they go up to Connecticut on Sunday, June 15 for a rematch against the Sun on their home turf. The ladies will be on the road for three games before they return to Madison Square Garden on June 22 for a home game against the Atlanta Dream. Tip-off time between the Liberty and the Dream is set for 3:00 p.m.
