Citi Knocks one out of the Park with New Citi ThankYou Home Runs for Communities Program

On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon in New York City, Citibank announced an amazing new program called the Citi ThankYou Home Runs for Communities program that will run throughout the 2014 New York Mets season.

Through this program Citi will donate $2,000 to one of four tri-state area community parters when a Mets player hits a homer during the course of the year.  The designated programs are City Harvest, United Neighborhood Houses, USO Of Metropolitan New York and the YMCA of Greater New York.

The program started on March 31 already made an impact to the YMCA of greater New York as $6,000 was donated via the three homers hit during Opening Day. In addition all of the programs received an initial $5,000 donation to kick-start the program.

Helping to launch the program was Mets Outfielder Curtis Granderson, who is a Roberto Clemente Award nominee and Major League Baseball representative. Granderson who has started his own foundation called the Grand Kids Foundation has been making a positive impact in communities in the United States and around the World.

The Citi ThankYou Home Runs for Communities program is serving as the centerpiece of the Citi Teammates in the Community program, which is a multi-program initiative compromised of events, donations and ticket opportunities that will allow Citi to highlight its role as an enabler of progress in the community.

Mets fans are encouraged to support the Citi Thank You program by the use of their Citi Thank You Points earned across their Citi credit card and banking relationships. The Thank You points can be used to make a donation to one of the many great organizations that we listed above.
