Sami Salo scored the deciding goal in the longest shootout in Islanders history, as the Tampa Bay Lighting survived four tying goals by the Isles in a 13-round shootout to win 3-2 Thursday at Tampa Bay Times Forum. Ryan Strome and Matt Donovan scored in regulation for the Islanders, who received shootout goals from Frans Nielsen, Brock Nelson, Colin McDonald and Casey Cizikas.
The Islanders look to extend their point streak to four games tonight as the face the New Jersey Devils for the fourth time this season. The Devils lead the season series two games to one, with the road team having won all three games.
Making a Splash: The Islanders dressed 10 rookies Thursday in Tampa Bay: Kevin Czuvzman, Calvin de Haan, Matt Donovan, Mike Halmo, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, Anders Nilsson, John Persson, Ryan Strome and Johan Sundstrom.
NHL Debut: John Persson made his NHL debut Thursday in Tampa Bay. He joins Kevin Czuczman, Mike Halmo, Ryan Strome and Johan Sundstrom on the list of Isles to make thier NHL debuts this season.
