Adam Pelech Agrees to Entry-Level Deal with the Islanders

The New York Islanders announced on Saturday that Adam Pelech has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract.

Pelech, 19, ranks third among Ontario Hockey League defensemen with 54 points in 59 games with the Eries Otters. The fourth-year defenseman’s nine goals and 45 assists are each career highs, while his plus-45 rating leads the Otters and ranks fifth overall in the OHL.

The Islanders selected Pelech in the third round (65th overall) of the 2012 National Hockey League Draft. In 225 career OHL games, the Toronto, ON, native has 125 points (20 goals, 105 assists) with 221 penalty minutes.

On the international stage, Pelech has represented Canada at the 2014 World Junior Championships and the 2012 World Under-18 Junior Championships, winning bronze in 2012.
