It is a night that many may never forget as the Manhattan College Men’s Basketball team (25-7) punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a hard fought 71-68 victory over Iona College (22-10) on Monday night, in the MAAC Championship Finale.
In easily what could be consider the MAAC Game of the Year the Jaspers played a true team system to get their first MAAC Championship since 2004.
Manhattan had four players in double figures led by Tournament MVP George Beamon (Roslyn, NY) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Rhamel Brown (Brooklyn, NY) continues to show strength in the forward/center position making several vital plays ending the night with 15 points, Shane Richards (New York) had some clutch three-point shots finishing with 14, and Emmy Andujar (Bronx, NY) rounded out all scoring with his 12 points and five boards while being named to the All-Tourmanet team with Beamon and Brown.
The NCAA Selection Show will be held on Sunday and broadcast live at 6 p.m. on CBS.
