“Last season was an amazing experience to be a part of the Cosmos and I can’t wait to build on that in 2014,” Guenzatti said. “This team means so much to our community and I’m very excited to play in New York again this year.”

Guenzatti, 22, was a regular starter for the Cosmos during the 2013 season and also started the 2013 Soccer Bowl title game. During the regular season he made 10 appearances (with one goal and one assist) and was named to the NASL Team of the Week during Week 7 of the 2013 NASL Fall Season.

“Sebastián is a gifted young player who continues to improve and has a lot of potential to grow,” Head Coach Giovanni Savarese said. “He’s also a New Yorker and I believe it’s important that we have a strong core of local talent at the club.”

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Guenzatti played for Uruguayan Segunda Division side Huracán FC before joining the Cosmos. He spent his teenage years growing up in the College Point section of Queens and was a standout high school player at Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows.
