Anze Kopitar broke a scoreless tie midway through the second period and the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Islanders 3-0 Saturday at Staples Center. The loss extended the Islanders’ winless streak to nine games (0-7-2) and was their ninth straight road loss.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP:
The Islanders play game three of their five-game road trip tonight in Anaheim. The Isles have not faced Anaheim in 23 months, but will now face the Ducks twice in a two-week span. The home team has won four of the last five meetings between these clubs, with all but one game being decided by a single goal. The Isles are 2-2-1 in those five games.
