The New York Cosmos announced on Friday that the team will host a charity gala to honor former players Pelé, Carlos Alberto and Giorgio Chinaglia (represented by his family) on Aug. 1, 2013. The mission with this gala is to benefit their charitable partner HELP USA, as well as paying tribute to the soccer icons.
“HELP USA does some incredible things for people who desperately need their help, so we’re excited to support them with this gala,” Cosmos Chief Operating Officer Erik Stover said. “We are also thrilled that we can pay tribute to some of the greatest soccer players of all time, who wore the Cosmos colors with pride and respect.”
Additional details on the gala benefitting HELP USA, including ways to purchase a table or tickets, will be announced in the future.
HELP USA provides housing and supportive services necessary for the homeless and people in need to become and remain self-reliant through the development of quality housing with on-site support services. HELP USA breaks the cycle of dependency by addressing the underlying causes in a way that respects the dignity of those the organization serves.
