Islanders vs. Bruins 4/11/13

Here are some notes for those fans getting ready to watch the New York Islanders (20-16-4) who are on the road getting ready to take on the Boston Bruins (26-9-4) in NHL action tonight.

New York and Boston will conclude their three-game series in Boston, with the Bruins winning the first two games. The Isles are a very different team though since the last meeting, so stay tuned to see if the confidence and momentum can continue with another big victory.

Isles Recap:

Michael Grabner scored the go-ahead goal in the second period to help lead the Islanders to a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on 4/9. The victory was the Islanders’ fourth straight at home and their seventh in the last nine games (7-1-1).

Team on Fire:

The Islanders have points in five-straight games (4-0-1), while also winning four straight at home. Of the eight remaining games, six are on the road, where the team is 12-5-2.

D is the Key:

New York has allowed two-or-fewer goals in eight of their last nine games, allowing just 14 goals over that stretch (1.56 per game). The Isles have also done a stellar job killing of other teams power play opportunities, not allowing one goal in a season-high, six-straight game (11-for-11).

Congrats Cap:

Jack Capuano recorded his 80th head-coaching victory with the Islanders on Tuesday vs. Philadelphia. Capuano ranks third on the Islanders’ all-time wins list (Al Arbour -740; Terry Simpson -81).

The Islanders and Bruins game is set to air on the MSG Plus network, with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
