The New York Islanders announced on Friday that they have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry level deal with Scott Mayfield. Mayfield will now join the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL on an Amateur Tryout Contract.
Mayfield, 20, scored 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) and recorded 114 penalty minutes with a plus-8 rating as a sophomore at the University of Denver. The St. Louis, MO-native ended his career in the Western Collegiate Hockey association with 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists) and 192 penalty Points.
New York selected Mayfield in the second round (34th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
